Pune: It has been revealed that a former BJP corporator had ordered the murder of Sarait criminals to avenge the accused, keeping in mind the anger over the shooting at the Ganesh Immersion procession four years ago. A case has been registered against a former Pune Cantonment Board corporator in this regard.
Police have registered a case against four persons, including a former Pune corporator, under various sections. Police have arrested two persons and seized three village pistols and live cartridges from them. A sum of Rs 15 lakh has also been seized from the accused.
Kondhwa police are investigating the incident. The arrested have been identified as Rajan John Rajmani (38, Bhagyoday Nagar, Kondhwa) and Ibrahim alias Hussain Yakub Sheikh (27, Kala Khadak, Wakad), police said. A case has also been registered against Vivek Yadav, a former BJP corporator of Pune Cantonment Board.
Kondhwa police are recording the statements of the accused in this case. According to senior police inspector Sardar Patil, Rajan John Rajmani and his friend Ibrahim Sheikh, who had come out of Yerawada jail on Kovid leave, had taken orders to kill someone and had a weapon in their possession.
Meanwhile, police set a trap and arrested Rajan and Ibrahim. When questioned by police, he confessed that he had ordered Vivek Yadav to kill Bablu Gawli, who had fired at him during the Ganesh Immersion procession four years ago. After checking Rajan’s mobile, the police found the conversation on the mobile suspicious. It revealed the involvement of a former BJP corporator.
